About Us
Wildflower & Thyme Soap Company began with Cindy’s longtime interest in complementary and alternative medicine, particularly aromatherapy, massage and healing touch. Just for fun, she took a soap making class in 2003 at Southwest Illinois College taught by Gary Olds, a longtime soap-maker at Silver Dollar City.
Cindy originally began making her own batches of soap in our kitchen on an old chopping block. Some batches worked and others didn't. She learned that a little too much or too little of the olive oil, distilled water or sodium hydroxide could make or break a batch of soap. Over time, Cindy perfected the recipe.
Rave reviews from family and friends led to selling soap at the local Farmers Market and shops in downtown Waterloo, Illinois. With this success, Cindy then used her knowledge about herbs, chemistry and microbiology to create our well-known healing salve and lip balm.
Jack entered the business when sales became too brisk for Cindy to handle alone. Known for his skills in marketing and sales, Jack advanced the growth of our business and is now its primary salesman, soap-maker, and instructor.
In 2018, our daughter, Jaime, and her partner, Tom, joined the business with their innovative ideas on product development.
